The first phase of the Information Technology Application Innovation Park (Xinchuang Park) in Tongming Lake of the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) officially started construction on June 29. 

After completion, it will provide customized spaces for Xinchuang enterprises.

The first phase of the Tongming Lake Xinchuang Park project is different from traditional industrial parks and commercial buildings. 

The project is located in the area surrounding Tongming Lake, which is a multi-functional composite industrial-city complex integrating internationalization, innovation, experiences and ecology.

Tongming Lake Park is an important fulcrum for the BDA to create an ecological environment. It covers an area of 73 hectares, with a green area of 30 hectares at normal water level and a flood storage capacity of 700,000 cubic meters. It is currently the largest wetland landscape in Ludong district.

The first phase of the Tongming Lake Xinchuang Park project adopted a global solicitation and centralized competition process to select design works.

Six design institutes were shortlisted, including four overseas design companies like Aedas, AECOM and SWP Architects, as well as the Chinese Academy of Building Research and the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University, and excellent works were selected after expert review.

The first phase of Tongming Lake Xinchuang Park covers an area of approximately 265,000 square meters, with a total construction area of around 1.17 million sq m, including the planned construction of 600,000 sq m of frontier office space, 100,000 sq m of commercial centers, 50,000 sq m of high-end hotels, 20,000 sq m of exhibition and cultural center area and 5,000 sq m of high-end cinema.

In terms of industrial functions, the first phase of the Xinchuang Park project will consider rent and sale requirements and land conditions to create themed office groups with different characteristics, including monolithic office groups, shared office groups and ecological office groups. 

The project will also use big data, 5G, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and other technologies to create a digital park.

In the future, the Tongming Lake Xinchuang Park, located next to the river, will highlight the rhythm and sense of technology through a combination of the lake's light shadows, the buildings' facades and the skyline. The aim is to present a visual feast of vitality and agility.
