The All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce recently released the 2022 list of the top 500 private enterprises in China, the total operating income of which hit 38.32 trillion yuan ($5.46 trillion), an increase of 9.13 percent.

Among them, JD Group topped the list for the first time with an operating income of 951.592 billion yuan.

Technological innovation has become one of the core areas of competitiveness in these companies. 

Data shows that, among the top 500 private enterprises in China in 2022, 406 enterprises' key technologies primarily came from independent development and research, and more than 80 percent of enterprises had implemented or planned to implement digital transformation at different levels. 

JD Group, which topped the list this year, had invested nearly 80 billion yuan in basic science and technology research and development by the end of 2021, with its technological achievements covering smart retail, logistics warehousing, smart city and other digital and intelligent supply chain application scenarios.

In recent years, JD Group has developed and launched the first plumbing valve industry brain in China, and established the first traceability and anti-counterfeiting system for Wuchang Rice.

The group also uses the industrial brain and digital economy industrial parks as anchors to help build local industrial clusters, drive new industrial growth and encourage new social consumption. 

Currently, it has provided digital services for more than 80 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Xiong'an, and has settled in more than 70 digital economy industrial parks.
