IAT lays out 'AI+' strategy

Updated: 2024-04-18

IAT Automobile Technology Co has recently launched its AI Robot Business Unit, aiming to advance research and innovation in robotics, including design services, OEM production, AI programming, and intelligent applications, to drive its "artificial intelligence +" initiative.

IAT Vice President Wei Xinzhu explained that this move aligns with the company's strategic plan, emphasizing AI empowerment, as robotics emerge as a pivotal application area for AI. Collaborating with NVIDIA has provided the company with cross-border opportunities, as evidenced by IAT's participation in the 2024 GTC conference, where their new strategy was solidified.

Dr. Yang Peng from IAT's AI.X.Lab highlighted the interconnectedness between automotive and robotic technologies, citing IAT's expertise in automotive design, software development, and supply chain resources.

This foundation supports their transition into robotics seamlessly. IAT's partnership with NVIDIA Omniverse, the leading virtual collaboration platform, positions them at the forefront of robotics innovation, integrating cutting-edge technologies like generative AI to create advanced robotic systems.

IAT intends to leverage its ODM capabilities to expand into the robotics market, facilitating the transformation of robot concepts into tangible products. Collaborations with top research institutes, like those in the life sciences field, underscore IAT's commitment to innovation.

The AI Robot Business Unit will focus on enhancing software systems, hardware capabilities, and system integration, with the goal of advancing AI and robotics across industries.

Wei Xinzhu envisions IAT's robotics business as its second growth curve, driving innovation and productivity across various sectors.

IAT aims to integrate advanced software and hardware technologies, foster collaboration with industry leaders and academia, and support the development and application of AI robots globally. This strategic move reflects its commitment to shaping the future of robotics through technological innovation and collaboration.
