The 2024 World Robot Conference (WRC) opened in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town) on Aug 21.

The robot host of a meeting

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the WRC. With Beijing E-Town as the permanent venue for the conference, over the ten years, the development of the robotics industry there has achieved remarkable results. Currently, it is accelerating the establishment of a national hub for the robotics industry.

In Beijing E-Town, the busy figures of robots can be seen everywhere, each contributing to the city in its own unique way.

At the manufacturing warehouse, robots efficiently carry out the fully automated transportation of pianos. This not only maximizes the efficiency of the transportation work but also reduces the risk of accidental bumps that pianos may encounter during transportation.

A pancake-making robot composed of nearly 10,000 components smoothly completes an entire pancake-making process, from spreading the batter to packaging the finished product, in just three minutes. This allows consumers to enjoy delicious pancakes and achieves full automation from making the raw materials to customizing the finished product according to taste.

The reception robot

The intelligent inspection robot is capable of autonomous navigation, perception, walking, protection, recognition, self-charging, environmental monitoring and alerting. It can autonomously patrol along preset routes, monitor the community environment in real-time and immediately sound an alarm and notify management personnel upon detecting anomalies.

An intelligent drilling robot can delve into the harsh frontlines of oil and gas development, such as the Gobi Desert, ensuring the essential safety on drilling platforms through unmanned and automated operations. It reduces the labor intensity of drillers and enhances the efficiency of drilling operations.

With the robot industry entering a period of accelerated development, in the future, Beijing E-Town will expedite the construction of a domestically leading and internationally advanced robot industry cluster.
