The patrol robot dogs in Boda Park

In Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area's (Beijing E-Town) Boda Park, two gray-white, hybrid robotic dogs, with the words "Patrol and Defense" on their bodies, and the intelligent patrol vehicle fleet have recently become the focus of attention among tourists and residents.

This is the new generation intelligent patrol system that was officially deployed by Beijing E-Town in recent days. Following the normalization of the country's first L4-level unmanned patrol vehicle fleet in January 2024, this use of innovative technology in Beijing E-Town, to support comprehensive social security governance, is a another step towards a city empowered by artificial intelligence.

The new generation intelligent patrol system includes 18 L4-level unmanned vehicles, 15 manned patrol vehicles, and 2 industrial-grade intelligent robotic dogs.

The intelligent, industrial-grade robotic dogs, the most advanced of their kind in the world, have a four-legged biomimetic design with a streamlined body. They are equipped with multi-spectral cameras and searchlights on their heads, combining an industrial feel with a futuristic technological aesthetic.

The unmanned patrol vehicles are equipped with a 360-degree panoramic gimbal and high-precision sensors. They can be integrated into the smart city video system, forming a three-dimensional monitoring and governance network that links the aerial and ground systems, known as the "sky net + ground net." This setup enables 24-hour, full coverage patrols throughout the area.

The new generation intelligent patrol system integrates AI algorithms and big data analysis, allowing for real-time identification of abnormal behavior, fire hazards and other risks. It can provide instant alerts to the command center via 5G networks, enabling rapid response and intervention.

The patrol efficiency of the new system is considered three times as effective as traditional methods, significantly reducing security blind spots and enhancing overall surveillance capabilities.
